TASK 4

INTERVIEW 1

“Ok, so you want to go to the British Museum, Lambeth Palace and the Tower of London. The nearest one is Lambeth Palace. How we are looking at the Imperial War Museum you’ll go on the right direction along Kensington Road. When you reach the intersection of this road with Lambeth Road, take it to the left. Immediately you’ll see the Lambeth Palace on the right part of the road. From there, to go to the British Museum, you have to go to north on Lambeth Palace Road. You pass the first intersection, at the second one turn left and go straight ahead, you’ll reach to a big intersection where you have to cross it. Between Saint Martin’s and Royal Courts are two roads: take the left one and go straight ahead until you’ll see on your right side the museum. To reach the Tower of London go back to the big intersection and turn to left. You’ll be on the Fleet Street. Go on that street until you see a big monument. Behind that monument you can find the Tower of London.”

Despite some lexical inadequacies, e.g. “go on the right direction”, “take it to the left”, this is a clear and detailed set of directions organized coherently in a substantial paragraph.

INTERVIEW 2:

“To reach Lambeth Palace, we have to head north and take first on the left. The next objective – Tower the London- is more far from here. Head north, take the first on the right, straight ahead, leaving Guy’s Hospital on your right, taking the first street. After the hospital, turn right, then take left on the Tower Bridge.

To reach British Museum, also head north and then right on the first, and then left leaving London Eye behind you. Go straight ahead till you reach Trafalgar Square and then head north on Kingsway.”

Clear set of directions.

INTERVIEW 3:

Task 4

“If you need to get to the Tower of London, you have to turn right on Lambeth Road, then you head straight forward until the crossroad with Great Dover. Head towards this street and at the end of this street turn left on Tower Bridge. At the end of this street you will get to the Tower. In order to get to the British Museum, you can head right on Lambeth Road and there’s a street on left – Waterloo – that will get you to Cleopatra’s Needle and onwards you keep going near Saint Martin’s, Old Curiosity and past this on the right you’ll see the British Museum.

To get to the lambeth Palace is really easy. You need just to take leftat the end of this street until you see the landmark on the right side.”

Good, clear and coherent set of directions.

INTERVIEW 4:

to right and then take left on the Tower Bridge.

To reach British Museum, also you must to go to the north and right on the first, then left leaving London Eye behind you, so straight ahead till you reach Trafalgar Square and then head north on Kingsway.”
